    National Park Service Historian Daniel Martinez’s 30-year WWII and December 7th odyssey

    Daniel Martinez, National Park Service Chief Historian at the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument Pearl Harbor, Oahu shares his personal odyssey of understanding WWII and the attack on Pearl Harbor.

    His lifelong quest of understanding starts in Lone Pine, California and takes him to Japan for a powerful reconciliation ceremony in the mountains of Japan. 

    His grandfather was working as a civilian at Pearl Harbor on the Day of Infamy and many of his relatives fought in WWII.

    Martinez has spent the past 30 years as the National Park Service Chief Historian at the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument.

    In addition to interviewing hundreds of Pearl Harbor survivors, Martinez had the honor of personally escorting four US presidents: George H.W.

    Bush, George Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama on engaging Pearl Harbor tours.
